The objective of my pictures is to illustrate unremarkable scenarios, commonplace familiarities infused with a fresh perspective. With an incremental tilt of perception I try to transform these images to conjure up sensations of the intimate, melancholic or exuberant by dipping into the wells of subliminal memory.
The rendering of these pieces with instinctive surface texture, tone and colour is the key to their potential for poetry.
There are many great artists that I admire for their vastly encompassing vision of the social, psychological and political. Conversely my own vision keeps me in the slow burn confines of the everyday. I feel the need to engage the viewer first before attempting to hopefully compel them. Familiarities laced with a vein of heightened intent played out within the microcosm I inhabit.
